Ian Roberts – Managing Director
Ian Roberts founded Zest PR in 2000, and is highly regarded within the industry for his strategic arts and entertainment PR activity, and his eclectic artist roster. In 2009 with a growing portfolio of live events and entertainment brands, he successfully re-branded the company which is now trading as A Star PR.

He has created successful media campaigns for the XVII Commonwealth Games; The Hop Farm Festival with Neil Young, Primal Scream, & Supergrass; The Mighty Boosh Festival with The Charlatans and Jarvis Cocker; The Queens Jubilee Pop Concert; The New Generation Arts Festival with Germaine Greer, Betty Jackson, Erin OConnor, and Melvyn Bragg; and The Hampton Court Palace Festival with Bryan Ferry, Van Morrison, Brian Wilson and Katie Melua.

He has also successfully represented Quebec Government Ministry of Culture, Liverpool Capital of Culture Bid 2008, The National Mozart Competition, the Youth web community Faceparty, London’s premiere supper club The Pigalle,Grammy Award Winning Dame Evelyn Glennie OBE, City Showcase, Oscar nominated and Grammy Award winning songwriter and film composer Michael Kamen, Julian Lloyd Webber, Hayley Westenra, Nigel Kennedy, Sir Andrew Davis, Alec Empire, super DJ Louie Vega, St Etienne, Strictly Coming Dancing stars Erin Boag and Anton du Beke, RnB star Ruby Turner, and Sir James Galway.

Ian Roberts began his music career at the age of 9 when he starred as Tommy in The revival of the Who’s Tommy the Rock Opera. He went onto to graduate in music from the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Music, and also pursued a career as a session singer, before setting his sights on the world of entertainment PR and marketing.

In 2003 with an interest in educational initiatives devised the education lobby group The Music Education Consortium, acting as spokesman in the celebrity music education funding debate, challenging the UK government to improve its music funding record, which resulted in major new funding initiatives. He has continued his educational interests by becoming a visiting lecturer at Central St Martin’s College of Fashion.

Ian is a firm believer in promoting new talent, and has helped to raise the profile of rising stars including new indie band The Steeples, singer-songwriter Nell Bryden (who received rave reviews in Q, Uncut, and Word magazine), Kerrang favourites The Parlotones, 50s jazzabilly Imelda May (who has been hailed as Fabulous by the Metro), and Brit award-winning musician Nicola Benedetti.

2009 Ian’s team at A Star continue to work across all areas of the arts and entertainment landscape. Highlights include The 15th Benicassim Festival in Spain, Warner Music’s Catalogue, Cornbury Festival, Bloom Festival, Daisy, Kitty & Lewis, Unicorn Kid, St Etienne and Jose Carreras amongst others.

Joe Parry – Press Officer
After graduating from the University of Newcastle, Joe began his career in PR working for one of the North East’s most prolific agencies. Quickly becoming a confident, risk taking member of staff, Joe went on to enjoy 2 years as one of the regions brightest stars in PR. Thankfully, the fire in his belly didn’t give him indigestion and he was able to make a name for writing music reviews and interviews for magazines and newspapers throughout the North of England, as he became a regular fixture on the music scene.Joe made the trek down South to progress his career in London and became an intern for A Star PR. After impressing the team with his hard-work and coffee making skills, he was welcomed as a member of the A Star team.

Joe cites his current favourite artists as Mastodon and Girls Aloud , so it’s fair to say he’s relatively open minded! Joe brings this enthusiasm for music to A Star PR and his proven record of success and dedication in all of his projects has seen him become a key member of the team.

Frazer Lawton- Press Officer

After returning from a five month residency living in the Central American jungles, Frazer made the long journey back to the UK to pursue a career in the highly competitive world of music PR. Various internships with an intense array of respected and successful independent PR companies ultimately landed Frazer his first role, assisting his director  on campaigns of global proportions from the legendary Metallica to the awe inspiring worlds most celebrated bands and musicians, Frazer decided to  to take the next step in his career and accepted a welcome offer from A Star PR to begin as Press Officer.

Frazer still finds time to contribute to magazines such as Clash and The Fly whilst handling exciting campaigns from his new Covent Garden agency. His roles within these publications have taken him all over the world and has allowed him time to indulge and meet a whole host of  legendary and influential figures, confirming and infusing his reasoning for his chosen career. At the age of 23, he boasts experiences his fellow contemporaries would be proud to pursue, and with an exciting futur e imminene he looks forward to discovering what’s lurking around the corner!
